Three determined Wight Tri members, Daniel Morgan, Craig Wilson, and Kelly Moorman, took on the Copenhagen Ironman on August 16, facing a gruelling 2.4mile (3.86km) swim, 112mile (180.25km) bike ride, and 26.2mile (42.2km) marathon.
Dan and Craig, seasoned Ironman athletes, chased personal bests, while Kelly tackled her first full-distance event. The trio launched together in Amager Strandpark, with Dan clocking in 1h 8m 35s in the swim and Kelly and Craig close behind at 1h 11m 31s and 1h 11m 36s respectively.
On the bike, Dan finished in 5h 10m 49s, Craig in 5h 23m 15s, and Kelly in 6h 18m 12s.
The marathon tested every ounce of determination. Dan crossed the line in 10h 49m 1s, Craig followed in 10h 52m 17s – both personal bests. Kelly, battling knee pain, finished her debut Ironman in 13h 36m 56s, smiling through every step.
Meanwhile at the Barry Island Sprint Triathlon, on Saturday, fellow member, Liz Dunlop, qualified for the 2026 World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.
