VECTIS VIEW: Elaine César – Independent Celebran

By Press Release Aug 27, 2021

The Isle of Wight is a scintillating little gem in paradise – the perfect place to walk down the ‘Aisle of Love’.

But finding the perfect venue is just the start for your perfect wedding. It’s also important that the service truly reflects your wishes, so that your special day is really all about you. For some, a church service with traditional vows feels right. Others may choose the minimum of fuss in a registry office, but many more people are turning to a celebrant-led wedding ceremony – one in which you can choose your very own personal intimate location anywhere on the Island. How great is that? Well, pretty wonderful according to the grooms and brides I have worked with!

Whether you fancy the beach, woodlands, the hills, coves, stately homes, a field or your garden, a celebrant will help you – every step of the way. Personally, I love telling the story of the happy couple. From how they met to how they arrived here in front of their loved ones to say, “I do”. That means taking some time to get to know you, and work with you to create a perfect celebration that reflects your personal individual story and dreams. After all, it is the most incredible day of your life that you want your family, friends and yourselves to love, and remember for a lifetime.

My journey to becoming a celebrant started nine years ago, when I also worked as a sessional registrar, officiating at over 350 wedding ceremonies, including taking the wedding ceremony for my daughter Emma and her husband Ashley. I had 24 years of event management experience working with high-profile events, civic events and even royal visits with the Isle of Wight Council. I also worked at Osborne House, the former home of Queen Victoria, as hospitality and event manager co-ordinating weddings, wedding showcases and corporate events.

I wanted to use all that experience to help others put together their dream celebrations, so I now work as an independent celebrant – qualified with The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, holding certificates as a Marriage, Family and Funeral Celebrant. In my view, what makes a great celebrant is a confident, calming, caring nature and, of course, you need somebody reliable who will make you feel relaxed on the day.

Celebrants also hold baby-naming ceremonies, all manner of lifetime celebrations and, of course, if you want to renew your vows, we are there to help. Just choose your favourite location for that special moment.

If you, sadly, need the services of a funeral celebrant, we will be there with you. After listening to the story of their life, we work with families and loved ones to create a ceremony that captures the spirit of the person you have lost, and celebrates the life of your loved one. We share your tears and laughter, not focussing on death, but the life they lived. Sometimes a touch of humour will uplift the ceremony at this emotional time.

In a sign of the times we live in, many people lost loved ones during Covid, and were unable to hold the funeral they wanted. So they are now booking memorial services to remember and celebrate lives lost during the pandemic.

I’m passionate about the role celebrants can play in helping you mark the important moments in the journey of life. If you have any questions you can contact me at elainecesarcelebrant@outlook.com.
