Undercliff Singers present cheque for Ventnor fund

Michèle Brock and Tony McCarthy

The Undercliff Singers musical director, Michèle Brock, has presented Tony McCarthy, Ventnor community development officer, a cheque for £466.62 for the town’s Community Support Fund.

The money was raised following the Undercliff Singers’ recent summer concert, at St Catherine’s Church. On the evening Tony gave the audience of more than 130, an insight into the work of the Community Support Fund, which supports Ventnor Community Foodbank, Baby Box, Ventnor Community Pantry and the Ventnor Well-being Café. He also spoke about the success of the weekly Your Space at St Catherine’s Church every Thursday, and the free meals given to the community and the growth of the monthly Our Place free advice drop-in centre.

Michèle said: “There are so many people who do so much great work in our town; the generosity shown by all those who came to our concert was so humbling and we know the money will make a huge difference to the communities who struggle so much to make ends meet as they help so many people in our town.”

The singers meet every Tuesday at 7.30pm, at St Catherine’s Church, for practice and welcome new recruits. After the summer break rehearsals will start again in October for their Christmas concert.
