The Ventnor Comic Jazz Band paid tribute to outgoing landlords, Sam and Pete Booth, at the Travellers’ Joy, Northwood, on Saturday.

Sam and Pete have run the pub since 2017 and won the CAMRA Pub of the Year award for the last three years. They will step down on October 4, with friends Katie Brown and Dave Wells taking on the running of the business.

Mike Kullander, leader of the band, said: “It was a celebration of Pete and Sam’s time at the pub.

“We started the day in Ventnor and had a little ‘tour’ of the Island in a coach, stopping off at a variety of pubs, including The Waverley, Carisbrooke, Goddard’s Brewery and the Crab and Lobster, Ventnor.

“But the whole idea was to pay tribute to Pete and Sam and welcome Katie and Dave to celebrate their time there and give them a good send-off.

“They exchange contracts next week, so this was a bit of a last fling for Pete and Sam.”

Katie and Dave are familiar to those living in the area, having recently been in charge of The Pavilion, at Gurnard Pines.
