Officers investigating a recent series of arsons at the Ocean Hotel in Sandown have arrested a third man as part of their enquiries.
Yesterday (Wednesday, September 4) a 20-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of arson. He has been conditionally bailed until December 4 while enquiries continue.
Police have previously arrested another 20-year-old man, from Sandown and an 18-year-old man, both on suspicion of arson. They have both been released on conditional bail until December 3 and November 8 respectively.
An investigation into these arson incidents continues, and the South Wight Neighbourhoods Policing Team are following up every line of enquiry. Police also continue to patrol the area, and are working with local partners to resolve issues regarding the site, its security and the associated anti-social behaviour and criminality.
Officers are still keen to hear from anyone that saw anything suspicious in the area when the reported fires took place during the evenings of Saturday July 27, Monday August 5, Thursday August 8, and Friday August 9.
