A four-metre-deep sinkhole (13ft) was filled in by Island Roads after appearing in The Broadway, Totland, on Friday morning.
The carriageway was closed, with temporary one-way traffic control put in place.
An Island Roads spokesman said: “The void was backfilled by Friday afternoon, and the road re-opened. We have continued to monitor the site and, so far, there have been no issues.
“This monitoring will continue and we will take whatever action may be necessary to maintain the safety of the road. We will also keep the public informed of any developments.”
