A depleted Wight Wolves side, teaming up with players from Aldershot & Fleet, enjoyed a successful start in the Gosport & Fareham touch rugby tournament.
Phoebe Tombleson scored a try in both halves against Winchester RFC, in the opening match. Emma Victoria, Clair Mumford, and Sam Anderson, also put in strong performances.
The Island’s only women’s side then lost 2-0 against New Milton, and will have been disappointed to lose 5-3 against the hosts, with Islanders, Rachel Lambert and Tombleson, scoring. A 5-1 loss against Fordingbridge followed, despite a Lambert try. Wolves won 5-0 against Farnborough, with Tombleson scoring twice, finishing against favourites Andover, and completing the tournament in fourth place. They are now looking forward to the trip to Aldershot & Fleet on November 22.
The Coach Award went to Claire Mumford, and the Wolfiest Wolf award to Sam Anderson.
Wight Wolves train on a Wednesday at Wootton Recreation Ground from 6pm, with touch or contact options available.
