Students raise funds for the Wight Brainy Bunch

Carisbrooke College held its fifth annual Santa Dash on December 19, continuing a popular festive tradition that brings pupils and the community together to support a charity.

A full field of 250 students took part, wearing Santa hats as they ran from the college to Carisbrooke Castle and back. Finishers were greeted with commemorative medals and hot chocolate after completing the route.

The event raised more than £1,250 for the Wight Brainy Bunch, bringing the total collected over the five years of the Santa Dash to £4,785. The college said the amount reflected the enthusiasm and generosity of pupils and their families.

Staff from Carisbrooke College and students from The Island VI Form helped run and marshal the event, ensuring it went ahead safely. Members of the public also lined parts of the route to cheer on the runners.

A spokesman for the college said the Santa Dash had once again proved a successful and enjoyable way to end the term, combining festive fun with fund-raising for a local cause.
