December’s seasonal Figgy Gig warmed up an otherwise bleak winter evening in Yarmouth on Friday, when Mr Figgy, the new mascot of Jean G-Owen’s company Naked Figleaf Collective, made his debut appearance.
Magic Moments duet, Heather and John Whatley, welcomed all into CHOYD with their sax and bass standards. The gig opened with dazzling performances from talented singers, Annie and Martha. Puny poet, Graham Brown, was on the lookout for ‘The Last Nigel’, while satirical Steve Taverner paid tribute to his hip bone before munching it all up! The enchanting Amy Jolliffe sang classic Christmas numbers, and the superlative Mrs Snelling (Heather Whatley) was on a blind date with her little dog in tow.
Ross Westrop played his new song ‘Santa Incognito’, and Ashley Yeo entertained an enthusiastic audience with his stunning set.
Mayhem ensued when Cheryl May, donning a pink tutu and makeshift wings, told ‘The Isle of Wight Fairy’s Tale’. Musical troupe, Rebuked, formed by Isobelle Lambert and Mark Carter, let loose with popular ukulele tunes. The evening ended with a cheerful rendition of ‘Bring Me Sunshine’.
The next Figgy Gig, themed ‘Figmanay’, is on Friday, January 5, 2024.
