Special certificate to mark ten years on tap for pub landlord

Sandown Mayor Gary Young has presented Kevin Barclay-Jay, the Landlord of Sandown’s Tap Public House, on Avenue Road, with a special certificate to celebrate his 10th year as landlord and licensee.

Cllr Young said ‘Everyone knows how difficult it is for businesses at the current time, and Kevin has worked tirelessly to develop the Tap, as well as contribute to the wider community’.

Cllr Young, as well as the 6 Sandown Mayors since 2010, signed the special certificate in recognition of Kevin’s tenure at the Tap.

Cllr Young concluded ‘Kevin is a tremendous advocate for the Town, and how it can be improved within limited resources, and he has supported countless community groups, such as Sandown FC; and we greatly value what he has done and, hopefully, will continue to do for the next 10 years and beyond’.

A grant has been submitted to develop an historic walk around the Town, as well as put together a plan to celebrate and commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day in May.
