Soul Connection promises a magical musical journey

An exciting new night, Soul Connection, launches at Bar 74 in Union Street in Ryde this Friday (January 26), bringing an eclectic mix of classic, contemporary and modern soul music. Music lovers can meet up with old friends and meet new faces for a drink and a chat, as DJs, Richard Weaver and Duncan Spite, each who have more than 25 years of experience, take you on a magical musical journey.

Having begun as all-vinyl DJs playing house, disco, boogie and beats all over the south of England, the duo have amassed a vast selection of records and digital tracks, allowing them to join the musical dots as they seamlessly genre hop through a startlingly wide collection of music, to deliver an aural experience like no other. Starting with down-tempo, melodic sounds, and progressing to dance-floor orientated good-times music as the party heats up.

You can expect to hear classic soul, modern soul, uplifting house, deep house, disco, boogie, world, Latin, funk, beats, liquid drum & bass and much more. Their aim is to nurture a collective who are hungry to be musically nourished.

Richard said: “We’re looking to attract those who, like us, yearn for an uplifting vibe that can only be found when uncompromising and obsessive DJs such as ourselves, strive to consistently deliver spontaneous and unique sets, through our hard-won craft, shaped over many years.”

Their influences include Gilles Peterson, Craig Charles, and Norman Jay, masters at work, to name a few, and their upbringing around these artists from the late ‘90s to the present day rave/dance music scene, makes for an inspired, unique and stimulating performance.

Music starts at 8pm and finishes at midnight. Entry is free. Check out Facebook @soulconnectioniow and @bar74ryde.
