Shanklin’s Inner Wheel club marks it’s 90th anniversary

Ann Cable - president of the club

In May, the Inner Wheel club, of Shanklin, marked it’s 90th anniversary with a celebratory lunch at the Shanklin Conservative Club.

Victoria Dunford, of East Cowes-based charity, Medical Aid Distribution (MAD), presented an inspiring slideshow showcasing their work in Moldova. Their projects include converting old buildings into a centre equipped with a hydrotherapy pool and distributing beds, wheelchairs, and other essential equipment for people with disabilities.

David Howarth, from the Isle of Wight Ramblers, also spoke, detailing their efforts to replace stiles with gates on Isle of Wight footpaths, making them accessible to all. To commemorate their significant milestone, the Shanklin Inner Wheel donated a gate adorned with their badge, now proudly placed on Church Road, in Shanklin.
