Shanklin Panto

The news that Shanklin Theatre will be producing a pantomime with Spotlight (IOW) over the Christmas period will be welcomed by many families as a small step towards traditional activities over the festive season.

Rapunzel will open on December 19 and run until January 3. All tickets will be priced at £16 apart from a ‘relaxed’ performance which will cost £12. Tickets will be very limited as social distancing and coronavirus guidelines will reduce the capacity of the auditorium; they will go on sale from Friday, November 6, with telephone bookings available on 868000.
The theatre has been awarded over £74,000 as part of the government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure they have a sustainable future.

Shanklin Theatre Chairman, Vic Farrow, said: “Having saved Shanklin Theatre from closure over 10 years ago, both the theatre and its volunteers have worked extremely hard to establish it as a major venue on the UK theatre circuit. Following our application to the Culture Recovery Fund back in August, we were delighted to hear that this application had been successful.

“Receiving the grant will go some of the way towards meeting the shortfall in our operational costs and, hopefully, until such times as we are able open again and resume a regular programme for our audience.”
