A burst sewer in Wellow, which has caused disruption in the area, has been fixed by Southern Water.

Tankers were supplied to take away the waste, with 15 being used over the last few days, having been set up in Yarmouth car park to work on clearing the problem. The sewer is the main line serving Yarmouth and the West Wight.

A Southern Water spokesman confirmed: “Our teams have repaired a burst sewer at Main Road, Wellow. We’re sorry for the impact this has had on local customers and businesses in recent days.”

Following the repair being completed, the majority of tankers have left the area.
