Yarmouth’s Sarah Howell has followed up her recent mixed doubles success at the English Open with another gold, this time in the women’s doubles, at the Pre-European Pickleball Championships, held at The David Lloyd Centre, Southampton.

Sarah played with scratch partner, Clare McKnight, from Arun, and after topping their group they went on to beat Gilli Macgregor and Wendy Howes 11-9, 8-11, 11-4 in a nail-biting final.

Sarah said: “I was amazed at how well we played together, having never met before, and I’m so pleased with another gold medal, especially competing against competitors from all over Europe. All the hard work and practice has definitely paid off.”

Sarah plays at West Wight Sports Centre in Freshwater.
