Following a two-year hiatus, the finals for the UK’s biggest gardening competition, Britain in Bloom, returned with 46 community gardening groups vying for success in a range of categories.
Sandown’s Green Town Volunteers were awarded silver in the Coastal Town class.
The group was recently presented with the Queens’s Award for Voluntary Service, and secured Gold in South East England in Bloom.
Sandown’s deputy mayor, Alex Lightfoot said: “Congratulations to Christine, Ben and the team of volunteers, they truly deserve this national recognition. They really do make a difference to the town, and to the lives of so many residents and volunteers”.
