Sandown laundry has new owners

A popular laundry business, in Sandown, has changed hands and relaunched under a new name.

Posh Laundry has been run by Jill Dibben for the last 13 years, but is now owned by Lee and Justine Sheppard and renamed On the Island Laundry Ltd.

Justine said: “We’re very excited and very positive. We have known Jill for around three years and we’re really happy to be taking over from her – and she is happy we have the new business. I have worked in the housekeeping and maintenance industry all my life, and I went out on my own a few years ago; it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

“We have used laundries a lot with ‘On the Island Cleaning & Maintenance’ but we’re quite new to this side of the business, so we’re on a learning curve. Jill has been training us over the last few weeks!”

Lee added: “We can’t wait to take it over and it’s another side of our business. We started ‘On the Island Cleaning’ seven years ago and, when this opportunity came along, we couldn’t resist it. We will be doing lots of second home changes and try to make it even better.”

Jill is retiring and has moved to Southampton. She said: “I have loved it here and it will be a wrench to go. When I first started, a lot of Air BnBs and self-catering didn’t supply sheets with their lets, but things started to change and I saw the opportunity and grabbed it.

“I’d really like to thank all my customers for their support over the years; they have been fantastic.”
