Children in Shanklin now have a new reason to head to Big Meade, with the opening of a revamped play park.
The new facility was a joint project between the IW Council’s public realm team and Shanklin Town Council.
The centrepiece of the playground is a play tower, funded by the IW Council, while a new set of swings was made possible through a contribution from the town council.
Cllr Sara Sheath, mayor of Shanklin, said: “This is a fantastic example of how working together as a town council with the IW Council can achieve such a positive outcome.
“Big Meade has always been a special place for families, and this new play area will bring even more joy to local children and visitors alike.”
Many of the materials used are recycled, helping to reduce the park’s environmental footprint
