Steven Steinmetz and his Newport side celebrated success in the Fred Winter Cup final against Cowes, at Newclose.

Friendlies saw Ryde overcome Martinstown by 5 wickets, with the visitors limited to 149 all out, with Ian Hailes taking 3-7 and Tom Roscoe 3-34. Opener George Griffith scored an unbeaten 60, and Hailes 35 for Ryde, to reach their target in the 35th over.

Ventnor won away at West Wittering by 69 runs, with Ben Attrill hitting 47 and Marcus Laker 41 towards a total of 264 all out. In reply, 3 wickets for Laker, and 2 apiece for Alistair Cotton and Charlie Turpin, limited West Wittering to 195 all out.

Islander Kevin Cooper is celebrating making his England debut, top scoring with 42, for the Pan Disability Team.
