Photographer builds women’s confidence

A Ryde photographer has started a new business called ‘Embracing Unique’ to help women feel confident and happy in their own skin.

Laura Holme, who has been a professional photographer for more than 20 years, is embracing her unique opportunity to help women do the same.

She said: “I’ve worked in the press for years and I would often hear the phrase: ‘I hate having my photo taken’.

“I met thousands of people, all with their own stories to tell. But I, too, took a knock in my own confidence, and realised why people shied away from the camera. I embarked on my own journey to build up my confidence and trained to be a body confidence and wellness coach.

“I could empathise why women especially didn’t love the skin they were in. TV, magazines, media – all portray the perfect image; the pressures of every day life for women means they don’t appreciate who they really are. With this in mind, and new doors opening, an idea grew for ‘Body Confidence Photography’.

“I am now specialising in creating natural images of mainly women. I take the time to listen and help clients to see themselves in a more positive way.

“For me it’s not just about taking photos, I’m passionate about giving my clients an experience. It’s part of a journey to loving who they are. I help women embrace and love their uniqueness through the power of photography, so that they feel confident and happy in their own skin.”
