Patrick wins £5,000 prize in summer lottery draw

The summer £5,000 winner of the Isle of Wight Lottery has been revealed as Patrick O’Connor – just weeks after the £10,000 annual winner was announced.

Patrick, who has been playing the Lottery since September 2024, when presented with his cheque, said: “I’m absolutely speechless! We’re going on a family holiday on Friday, so we’re really going to enjoy ourselves now.”

His entry came via WightFibre, who enrolled him through the company’s staff payroll scheme.

Megan Barrett, from the Isle of Wight Lottery, said: “It’s such a treat – the team are overjoyed for Patrick. What a great start to their family holiday.”

Richard Winter, of the IW Chamber of Commerce, added: “A huge thank you to WightFibre, and all the weekly payers. Their continued support of the Isle of Wight Lottery means the Chamber can continue to offer loans and training to local businesses. It made my week seeing Patrick collect the £5,000 cheque.”

The IW Lottery supports the local economy by providing interest-free loans to Island businesses and start-ups. Since its launch in 2001, it has helped create more than 450 jobs and loaned more than £1.3 million to local enterprises.

Weekly draws offer players the chance to win £1,000 and ten prizes of £100. Businesses can also offer numbers to staff through the Payroll scheme.
