Shanklin’s U-10 side celebrated a successful first season, securing a cup win. They overcame Downside Panthers 9-1 in the final, after a season that saw them also finish joint top of the league with Downside Panthers.
Coach, Char Watterson, said: “What a first season we have all had, not just the players and coaches, but the parents as well. Without all your efforts none of this would work. Well done to Downside Panthers as well for never giving up and playing till the final whistle; you have done your managers and parents proud.”
Prior to the final, Shanklin U-10 players, volunteers from Shanklin FC,and Shanklin Voluntary Youth & Community Club, and local PCSO, Jacquie May, presented Rachel Harley, from Shanklin’s United Reform Church, with football kit being donated to a ‘Shanklin’ school in Uganda.
