Nick smashes his own record

In the run-up to July’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Bonchurch’s discus-thrower, Nick Percy, was five centimetres short of throwing 65m (213.25feet), breaking his own Scottish Record throw of 64.35m with his throw of 64.95m in the Welsh Championships.

Nick said: “Another personal best and national record today to win my first Welsh Title in Cardiff – it was a much needed rebound after my last competition in Norway and, with two weeks till the British Champs, I am feeling confident going into the championship season.”

Percy is a former European junior silver medallist and a four-time British champion. But since 2016 his best throw had been 63.38m.
