The Admiral Nurses are part of Dementia UK, and the Island team work as part of the Memory Services at St Mary’s Hospital. They provide specialist care and nursing services in families’ homes.
With members of the Newchurch Male Voice Choir having used the services of the nurses, the choir have given their support to nurses by donating the proceeds of the retiring collections and donations from their concerts throughout 2024 to the Admiral Nurses. So it was with pleasure that members of the choir met the team of Admiral Nurses, and presented them with a cheque for £1,881.11. Along with team leader Sam Patey, nurses Hannah Buckett, Carol Currums, Pauline Smith, Tony Cole and Rae Stratton were present at Quay Arts for the presentation.
Bob Cooper, vice-chairman of the choir, said: “Being able to bring the pleasure of singing and music to the public and to also give support to Island groups and charities makes occasions such as this, and the raising of this donation, so worthwhile.”
