A new pre-loved clothes shop has opened in Freshwater selling affordable clothing at more realistic prices in the current financial climate.
The shop, Compton Family Printz in Avenue Road, is owned by Luke and Anita Compton who moved into the area six months ago from Niton. Anita said: “We started off with the print shop and expanded into clothing. We have struggled like everyone else and have been on the brink of homelessness. We know what it’s like not being able to afford anything.
“I have always worked in retail, in shops or hotels, and it’s been a dream to work for myself and run my own shop which can help other people.
“We have young children and know how expensive clothing is, so we are selling our stock at affordable prices. Our most expensive item is £15 and that’s for an adult’s heavy winter coat. However, we are not a charity – our aim is to sell the lowest pre-loved adult and children’s clothing for our Island community.
“We do accept donations, and we also sell clothes on behalf of other people. We want to help people and will even give away a bundle of clothes to someone who is homeless to support them.”
Luke added: “We also run the print business in the shop, which is totally separate. We put designs on new tee-shirts or people can bring along their own tee-short and we can print a design on that as well.”
