New facilities at Waterside Pool

Waterside Pool, in Ryde, has completed a complete refurbishment of its changing facilities, following six months of extensive improvement works.

The transformation marks a big step forward in enhancing the experience for all users, with a fresh, modern, and comfortable environment now in place.

In 2024, the pool secured government funding through the Community Ownership Fund, which was combined with its own reserves to deliver the project. The works focused on replacing the outdated changing rooms and roof – both of which were in urgent need of renewal.

The project, which began in March, involved stripping the facilities back to their bare bones and rebuilding from the ground up.

The new changing rooms now feature heated flooring, improved drainage, LED-lighting, enhanced ventilation, vanity areas with hair dryers, new toilets, sinks, cubicles and showers, refurbished lockers, and a water bottle refill station.

The £300,000 project was made possible thanks to the continued support of Waterside Pool’s loyal customers, who used the facility throughout the disruption.

General manager, Todd Miller, said: “We’re elated with the end result. These improvements, alongside recent energy-saving initiatives, help secure the future of the centre for our community.”
