The award-winning Mitre Players are returning to the Island this summer, with their loudest, wildest show yet – the ’80s rock musical, Rock of Ages.
Following successful productions of Bugsy Malone and Little Shop of Horrors, the touring dramatics group will take to the Apollo Theatre stage, in Newport, from Monday, July 29, to Friday, August 2.
Set on LA’s legendary Sunset Strip in 1987, Rock of Ages tells the story of a small-town girl, a city boy, and their dreams of making it big in Hollywood. But when developers threaten to tear it all down, it’s up to a ragtag band of rockers – and a whole lot of music – to save the day.
The show features more than 25 classic ’80s hits, including We Built This City, Wanted Dead or Alive, I Wanna Know What Love Is, Here I Go Again and Don’t Stop Believin’. Packed with big hair, bigger guitar solos, and all the energy of the Sunset Strip, Rock of Ages is a celebration of rock ‘n’ roll and the spirit of rebellion.
Performances begin at 7.30pm each evening. Tickets are available via iw.observer/rock-of-ages.
Please note: the show contains strong language and adult themes.
