An Island teenager took The Voice by storm on Saturday evening with a performance of Bebe Rexha’s ‘You Can’t Stop The Girl’.

Mila Lake, 16, wowed the ITV judges Anne-Marie, Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and Olly Murs during her blind audition which won her turns (a show of support) from three of the four – and a place in the next stage of the competition.

She has been a member of Isle of Wight Theatretrain, Cowes, since the age of seven and has been singing with TT vocal coach, Hannah Caudle for eight years.

A spokeswoman said: “She’s worked so, so hard from such a young age to get where she is now and we couldn’t be prouder!
“After a super successful audition which we held on Zoom, it was clear Mila was in for an amazing few months with The Voice UK. Now that the world is about to see her talent, we know this is just the start of an amazing career she has ahead of her!

“We are beyond proud of you! What a beautiful performance from a truly beautiful person! We were lost for words – just lots and lots of tears.”

Mila added: “It was a crazy, wild experience; I was terrified. Vocals were always my favourite thing. I was totally starstruck.”
After her performance, Anne-Marie described Mila’s voice as very pure, adding: “I could hear the emotion and that’s what really gets to me.”
