Storeroom2010’s Cowes’ Men’s Shed celebrated its fifth anniversary in style on Tuesday, welcoming members to enjoy the celebration with a hog roast. Plants and items made in the Shed were also available to anyone with an eye for a bargain, and the glorious sunshine allowed members to enjoy the gardens and outside spaces.
Cowes’ Men’s Shed is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm, and welcomes people aged eighteen and over. Despite the name, women are very welcome to attend. As well as providing a carpentry workshop, craft room, IT area and gardens with polytunnels and raised beds, tackling social isolation across the Island is a priority.
Project leader, Adam Martin, said: “The last five years have been an incredible journey. When we first started out, we were just a small team with a big dream, determined to make our mark on the world of Men’s Sheds. We worked long hours, made some mistakes, and learned a lot along the way. But through it all, we never gave up on our dream.
“Today, here we are. A thriving shed with a team of talented and dedicated members. We’ve helped so many people across the Island – including numerous charities and good causes, and we’re just getting started.
“I’m so excited to see what the next five years bring.”
