Marnie Marnie and her band

The 22nd Wight Noize final took place last Thursday (April 25) at Strings Bar & Venue in front of a packed audience, The finalists were asked to perform a 20-minute set of original music.

The acts included Ruby, Georgia Nicole, Chum?, Five Degrees North, Marnie Marie and Jaded, who all put on a great show.

The panel of industry judges assessed the quality of songs and performance among the factors to choose the overall winner of the Wight Noize 2024 competition.

Andy Booth, of Platform One, said: “In all the years running this competition, I don’t think I have seen such intense debate and discussion from the panel of judges. This just shows how important it is to have a wide variety of experience on the panel, from songwriters and producers to record label directors and publishers, they all come at it from different angles.”

The winner was announced live on-stage by Beth Brookfield and Matt Read, of The Optimists, Wight Noize winners in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Marnie Marie and her band came out victorious on the night, having performed a powerful set of R&B infused pop songs. They will be opening the main-stage on Sunday, June 23 at the Isle of Wight Festival in June.

All the finalists will be appearing at the Platform One Stage over the IW Festival weekend.
