The Bay CE School, in Sandown, is celebrating after winning the regional primary schools final, of Dance Live, for the second year running, winning £1,000 for the school.

The Bay finished third in the heats, in February, securing a place at the finals, which took place at Portsmouth Guildhall last Thursday (April 25).

The performance of ‘Around the World in Eco-Ways’ was inspired by Jules Verne’s book, Around the World in 80 days. It tells the tale of a university pupil who takes on the challenge to create an eco-friendly vehicle to travel around the world, including India, Japan, the USA and finally the UK, taking part in cultural dances along the way.

The school thanked the children and staff involved for their hard work over the past eight months, and parents and carers for their support.

Primary headteacher, Nina Lawrence, said: “To hear the amazing comments from the judges made me so proud! I am so pleased that so many of our pupils have had such an exciting opportunity to take part in an experience that they will never forget.”
