Looking forward to Ventnor Day

Ventnor Day, which takes place at Ventnor Park tomorrow (Saturday) between noon-6pm, promises to be bigger and better than ever. Artists booked to perform include The Ventnor Darlings, Greg and the Bears, The Hillmans, The Slow Cats, Moonshine Border Morris, Andy Roberts, Bethan John, Lucan, Tink Beadle and Ventnor Theatre Group.

The event also features the first performance in their hometown by Ventnor Comic Jazz Band after their recent successful appearance in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant. Alongside the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, there will be stalls from around 50 community groups and voluntary sector organisations and around 50 local businesses, crafters and artists. A ‘Fiver Fest’ will also be in place in the town for the next fortnight. Shops and businesses will be giving special £5 offers as part of a campaign to shop local. Pascale Labelle, of Blue Labelle Boutique, is organising the scheme and said: “Fiver Fest happens throughout the country three times per year and I thought it would be great for Ventnor to take part.”

At least 20 businesses have signed up to the scheme which runs until July 16.
