Everything To A Point – The debut EP from Isle of Wight Psych-Pop Band As We Leave
Hailing from the golden coast of Sandown, As We Leave are gearing up for the release of their debut EP and their hypnotic new single ‘Hope That Kills’ – out now via Abbey Records.
‘Hope That Kills’ alludes to feelings of missed opportunities, accompanied by melancholy guitar riffs and gentle drums that drag the song at a beautifully lazy pace.
The band have released two songs from the EP so far. Body Clock searches for where our minds wander at night, all the while being accompanied by hazy lo-fi guitars. Meanwhile the more upbeat ‘Stories We Tell’ sees the band allude to some of the happiest days of their lives over beautiful melodies and harmonies.
The bands love for the Beach Boys, The LA’s and Neil Young shine through into their music. Beautifully written melodies and guitar riffs are perfectly crafted into their rich DIY aesthetic.
The five track EP is a coming of age journey from the perspective of beauty, experience and friendship. Each song is packed with pop melodies that are instantly catchy and accompanied by warm lo-fi textures, the band’s EP creates the perfect soundtrack to the sepia toned aesthetic of autumn.
The members of As We Leave are lifelong friends and another perfect addition to the growing Island music scene. Including hints of the classic Island guitar sound that many local bands have, they also introduce new layers of sun-kissed Americana and hints of psychedelia into their refreshing take on pop music.
