A husband-and-wife team is celebrating five years at the helm of a cleaning and maintenance business this month.
Lee Sheppard, and his wife, Justine, decided to leave their jobs and join forces, and On the Island Cleaning and Maintenance Ltd has gone from strength to strength. Lee said: “It’s been a busy last couple of months because we got married recently as well!
“I have been in the building business for around 30 years and Justine was on the cleaning side of things for around the same time, so we got together to form this business.
“The business has really expanded and we now employ 10 staff and contractors.
“We are members of Checkatrade and we look after some amazing properties on the Island. We operate a cleaning and maintenance service and, around four years ago, we started a resin driveway side to the business.
“We are the only approved Vuba resin-bound contractor on the Island and we’re looking to expand that side of things.”
Resin-bound is a self-draining surface laid on an open-grade binder or drilled base. The mixture has tiny voids in the surface allowing water to filter through making a permeable solution which is good for the environment.
