Fire crews on the Isle of Wight are currently dealing with a large fire in Shanklin this afternoon.

The incident on Wilton Park Road was reported just after 12.00pm this afternoon.

At least three fire engines are on the scene, with fire crews trying to bring the blaze under control.

It’s understood a number of sheds and trees are ‘well alight’

Route 3 bus users have been effected and Southern Vectis posted updates on twitter stating ‘Due to a fire in Wilton Park Road, Shanklin, Fire services have closed the road. Route 3 will serve Arthur’s Hill and Atherley Road to Shanklin Rail station in both directions.’

Trains on the Island are also delayed. A spokesperson for South Western Railway said this afternoon: ‘Due to a small lineside fire at Shanklin Isle of Wight, trains are experiencing short delays.’

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
