The Island is set to become the epicentre of the chess world next February, as it hosts the Wightlink IW Chess Masters at Ryde School.
The tournament, to be held between February 18 and 25, will bring together some of the finest chess players from across the world, show-casing a level of competition which promises to captivate both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
It will include a star-studded line-up of renowned players such as Shreyas Royal, Jovi Houska, Daniel Fernandez and Keith Arkell. More than 35 Masters are currently registered to play, including 12 Grandmasters, while American Chess Master and streamer, James Canty, will be broadcasting his games live to his followers. Coverage and commentary will also be available on-line.
It is hoped the event will attract around 250 players and grow into a larger annual competition.
