The annual Island Volunteer Fair, organised by the IW Volunteer Centre, will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at the Riverside Centre in Newport from 11am to 3pm.
More than 40 organisations from across the Island will be taking part, and this is your chance to meet staff and volunteers from lots of organisations, all in one place. Whether you are looking to gain confidence and skills, give back to the community, make new connections or simply find out more about what is going on in the community, go along and get your questions answered.
You will find opportunities to volunteer, on a regular basis or for one-off events. There are indoor and outdoor roles, opportunities to work alone or as part of a team, supporting children, older adults, animals or particular themes. Some roles require specialist skills; others need nothing more than a willingness to smile and say hello.
It has been proven that caring for others can have benefits for your health; research has shown that some of these benefits are physically measurable, and people who volunteer tend to be much happier than those who don’t. So, what have you got to lose? Pop along to the Riverside Centre and spend some time in the company of some inspirational people on Saturday.
Light refreshments will be available to purchase from the bar. There will be limited free parking on site, but remember to register your vehicle at reception.
Please support our Island community, and spread the word. All are welcome.
