Ironic reason for IW no show at forum

Representatives from the Isle of Wight were unable to physically attend a conference in te Outer Hebrides this week about connectivity of islands – due to connectivity problems!

Councillor Jonathan Bacon, who was due to attend the third Islands Forum on behalf of council leader Cllr Phil Jordan said:

“Unfortunately the weather on Sunday and the lack of availability of seats on the scheduled flights for Monday meant that neither myself nor the chief executive were able to physically attend the Islands Forum in the Outer Hebrides.

“If nothing else this perhaps made a point about the problems with connectivity that were due to be discussed there.”

Island representatives, including the chief executive, Wendy Perera, joined the conference remotely.
