Shanklin & District Historical Association celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a special exhibition at Falcon Cross Hall, including the launch of a new 62-page book on the golden Edwardian age, called ‘Edwardian Shanklin’, with a foreword by former IW High Sheriff, Anne Springman.
The book is the latest in a series of publications including The Brannon Family and Shanklin, Shanklin 70 Years Ago, Shanklin Village Through Time, and Shanklin Esplanade Through Time.
The association produces two newsletters a year and holds 10 meetings a year with guest speakers, held on the first Thursday of each month at Falcon Cross Hall. It also arranges historical walks, as well as the annual exhibition.
Archivist Terry Nigh and association chairman, Mark Saunders, welcomed hundreds of members and residents to the exhibition.
