Hospitality businesses can work together for success

By Press Release Mar 31, 2023

A group of small business owners, all working in the Island’s hospitality sector, are getting together to discuss how they can collaborate in order to grow all of their businesses.

The initiative, organised by the Go for Growth Business Hub, will be led by Harold Goodwin, a veteran of world-wide tourism. The aims of the group include moving away from the idea of having an off-season, reducing dependence on the big on-line travel booking websites, collaborating on buying products and services locally, developing plans to enhance staff recruitment and retention, and discussing ideas to encourage the growth of sustainable tourism.

Harold has worked with organisations all over the world. The launch event for the group is planned for April 20, when Harold will use examples of how hospitality businesses in Scotland and in South Africa have collaborated successfully. The idea is to help small groups of business owners, including accommodation providers and attractions, work together to break down the idea of peak-season, off-season and shoulder season.

The event has been organised by the Go for Growth Business Hub, as part of a programme called Innovation Wight. This is supported by the Isle of Wight Council, and has included the refurbishment of Building 41, a co-working space on Newport Road, Cowes.

Go for Growth provides free business advice and support to the owners of independent businesses, in any sector, based on the Isle of Wight.
