Hope for Hursts on the horizon

The Freshwater community is coming together in its battle to save the threatened closure of ironmongers, W Hurst and Sons.

As previously reported, managing director of Hursts, Jevon Kennedy, is reluctantly targeting the branches of Freshwater and Ventnor as well as the possibility of closing Shanklin. But in reply to an email from IW Freshwater South Councillor, Becca Cameron, Mr Kennedy, said: “We have received a high volume of suggestions from colleagues, local businesses and the community.

Therefore we have extended the consultation period to allow us to fully consider and explore each suggestion and our subsequent options. “Current considerations are looking more positive for Freshwater.”
