Wednesday, June 12, was a busy day for the team at the IW Literary Festival, with their presentation of the King’s Award for Volunteers, and the announcement of this year’s festival headliners.

Gracing the stage yet again will be much-loved author, Sir Michael Morpurgo. He will be stepping outside of the festival’s usual itinerary, with a special concert version of his popular book, War Horse, at Medina Theatre.

The festival will be running from October 3 to October 6, and will host many faces both new and familiar. Amongst those appearing will be former MP and television personality, Gyles Brandreth, Countdown star, Susie Dent, and General Sir Michael Jackson, one of the British Army’s most high-profile generals since WWII.

As well as a line-up jam-packed with renowned authors, the IW Literary Festival will also feature a new jazz event, and the return of the popular Fizz Quiz at the Island Sailing Club. Whether you’re a wine enthusiast and want to get involved in wine tasting, with award-winning Helen McGinn, or whether you fancy yourself an author in the making, and wish to enter the Isle of Wight Book Awards, judged by Alan Titchmarsh, the festival has really delivered this year with a wide variety of events to suite all tastes.

Tickets for the IW Literary Festival will go on sale in August, once timings have been confirmed. For more information regarding the line-up, and how you can support the festival, visit iw.observer/iwlf.
