To celebrate Eddie Minghella’s 102nd birthday this month, Louise Hart and Jenny Simmons delivered the ice cream that bears his name to his garden in Ryde yesterday (Thursday).
Eddie sung Italian opera songs with glee as he ate some of the famous Chocolate Bliss Minghella Ice Cream ahead of his birthday on June 21. Minghella ice cream has been produced on the Island for more than 70 years. Eddie and his late wife Gloria, set it up in 1950 in Ryde, using Italian artisan recipes.
“It was emotional watching Eddie enjoy Minghella ice cream to celebrate his 102nd birthday,” said Jenny. “We have worked really hard, since we took over the brand in 2017, to ensure its quality remains the same and its heritage celebrated with gratitude to the wonderful Minghella family.”
Minghella ice cream is being showcased along with other Island products in the Artist’s Village at this weekend’s Isle of Wight Festival.
