Green Town Volunteers out for the Spring Clean

Green Town volunteers in Sandown and Shanklin organised a good tidy-up in the two towns during the Great British Spring Clean.

Around thirty people, including groups from St Blasius and URC churches and others, fanned out from Shanklin Railway Station and collected 10 full bags of litter from around the town in about two hours, before heading for a well-earned cuppa in nearby cafes.

In Sandown the Green Town Volunteers were out in force, refurbishing the planters outside Sandown Library with more than 150 new plants. The sunny weather welcomed tourists and brought out smiles all round. For the volunteer gardeners it also meant much needed watering duty. They were grateful to The Tap and Hotel Maria who allowed them to use their water supply.
