Going bananas for Mountbatten

By Chris Cornford Apr 25, 2021

Chris Hayton is braving the shave and facing the wax to raise money for Mountbatten.

Chris lost his beloved mother, Kathleen, three years ago, and he has decided to have his head shaved and his chest waxed to raise money for the hospice. He said: “I wanted to do something to remember my mum and say, ‘Thank you,’ to all the staff who looked after her when she passed away from cancer.”
The 47-year-old from Ryde was out and about this week distributing sponsorship forms, and decided to attract attention by donning a bright yellow banana outfit. He persuaded Amazon to donate the eye-catching costume, originally asking for a parrot, but they were out of stock.

He will be losing his hair at the Dapper Chap barber in Newport at 10am today (Friday 23rd April) and then visiting Charlotte’s Academy in Cowes, where they have agreed to wax his chest (ouch!). Both businesses are doing their bit free of charge to help Chris in his quest to raise much needed funds for the hospice.
Chris has set up a fundraising page at justgiving.com/fundraising/christopher-hayton1.
