Are you intrigued by the idea of a career in engineering?
With a strong demand for engineers in the UK, now might be the perfect opportunity to explore whether this exciting and often well-paid path is right for you. The Isle of Wight College is inviting you to dip your toes into the engineering world with two free hour-long taster sessions at their CECAMM centre in Whippingham.
Get an exclusive glimpse into the realm of engineering at their open evening next Wednesday (March 6). Choose from a variety of hands-on activities including crafting a collapsible camp cooker in their handfitting workshop, exploring the art of virtual welding, or learning about the complexities of aerospace composites manufacturing. If you’re keen on electronics, learn about circuit design and its application in marine navigation, or immerse yourself in the world of computer-aided design (CAD) software. If you want to know more about engines, their session on marine engine maintenance could offer invaluable insights.
Each session runs from 4.30pm to 5.30pm or 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Secure your place by emailing cecamm@iwcollege.ac.uk with your preferred session and time slot in the subject line, along with your name, email address, and details of any accompanying guests.
The IW College Newport campus is also opening its doors the same evening, offering a closer look at T Levels – the new alternative to A Levels. With 80 per cent classroom learning and 20 per cent real-world experience, T Levels could be the key to unlocking your future in computing & digital, business management, engineering, health, childcare, and much more.
As well as opportunities for young people stepping out of school, those considering stepping back into education as an adult are also welcome to find out more about the part-time or full-time learning opportunities on offer. You can also find out about the various bursaries and financial support available to support your learning journey.
Both the Newport and CECAMM campuses will be open on March 6 from 4.00pm to 6.30pm for an enlightening open evening.
