Island jobs are available for a new production of ‘The Freshwater Five’, which will be going to the mainland on tour in the New Year.
The IOW creative arts company, Deadman’s debut production, by Liam Patrick Harrison, is embarking on a tour of coastal communities to venues across the UK.
The story begins in 2011, and follows five Island fishermen (Jamie Green, Jon Beere, Zoran Dresic, Daniel Payne, and Scott Birtwistle) who were sentenced to a total of 104 years for conspiracy to import £53m worth of cocaine.
They have always professed their innocence. In 2021, new evidence came to light that cast doubt on the original convictions and investigation.
High quality creative jobs are available with another entry level position for an ambitious and creatively-minded Islander to come aboard and learn the tricks of the trade.
Artistic director, Samuel Bossman, said: “I’m so proud of this production: its storytelling and the primacy of Isle of Wight talent and stories. It is a template for the power of ambitious new work in under-reached communities across the UK, not just big towns and cities.
“This was our debut production, and a debut for IOW playwright, Liam Patrick Harrison, and I want it to be a platform for other aspiring IOW creatives to be ambitious and dream big.”
Tour dates and venues to be announced; for job information email info@hellodeadman.com.
