Free sustainability scheme for firms

James Daws from Gurit UK

Businesses across the Island are invited to take part in a free sustainability programme, backed by the IW Council.

The green impact toolkit provides more than 190 practical actions that organisations can choose to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and strengthen environmental performance. Actions range from simple measures, such as switching off unused electrical equipment to developing a sustainability policy.

Participants earn points for completed actions, working towards Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum awards. The programme also offers networking opportunities, workshops, webinars, and an awards ceremony, all free of charge.

Last year, 40 teams took part and completed 1,073 sustainable actions, highlighting the scheme’s potential to drive positive change across the Island.

Amelie-Rose Owen, community wealth and special projects officer at the IW Council, said the authority was proud to fund the scheme locally so Island businesses could access it at no cost. She said the programme helps future-proof organisations while protecting the Island’s environment, including its UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve status.

James Daws, site manager at Gurit UK, said the toolkit raised awareness around sustainability, and helped teams work through clear, achievable actions together.
