Fourth death from Covid-19 at St Mary’s Hospital

The total number of deaths from Covid-19 has reached four, as a man in his 90s who had underlying health conditions succumbed to the virus at St Mary’s Hospital. Alastair Flowerdew, Medical Director at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust confirmed that his family had been informed and said that thoughts and deepest condolences are with them at this ‘difficult and distressing time’.

The total number of patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 on the Island is 25, but it is clear that many more have the virus, but have not been tested and remain at home.

Five patients who had tested positive for the virus at St Mary’s have recovered and been discharged.
