Independent Arts has launched its Creatively Connected Christmas campaign, aiming to raise £8,000 to help keep its creative hub, in Newport, open over the months ahead.
For more than thirty-five years, Independent Arts has helped people across the Island live healthier and more connected lives through creative activity. Its work ranges from inclusive singing groups and hands-on arts workshops to research-backed well-being programmes for people of all ages. The creative hub is at the centre of this work, offering a safe place for anyone to drop in, take part in simple creative activities, and meet others.
This year’s campaign also features a community project inspired by The Jolly Christmas Postman. The hub’s festive window invites visitors to write a Christmas card for someone in a local care home who may be feeling lonely this year. Cards can be dropped off at the hub, and will be hand-delivered before Christmas.
The creative hub will open for drop-in creative activities on December 29, 30 and 31 from 10am to 2pm.
Matt Hitt, creative programmes and fund-raising manager, said: “We see every day how creativity transforms lives. For some, our creative hub is more than a building – it’s a lifeline.”
Independent Arts is fund-raising through GiveMatch, which can double or even triple donations at no extra cost to supporters. More information is available at iw.observer/creative-hub.
